A Century of Flight

Type 23 ("Triikor" class interceptor)
c.9500 GSY
Standard interceptor of the Riesstiu Empire, the Type 23 was the first successful space interceptor capable of atmospheric travel. Deemed to be compareable to the exile's own "blade" interceptor, it was superceeded by the standard Vaygr fighter when the Taiidani allied themselves with the Vaygr.

Type 31 ("A'kya" Class Interceptor)
C.9637 GSY
Even before the fall of the Vaygr, elements of the Taiidani Imperium forwarded a request for a native design of interceptor superior to the Vaygr assault fighter. The result was the type 31. Designed in the style of the older, easy-to-learn type 23, the type 31's entire armament was an off-axis rail gun that was nearly twice the power of it's predecessor. The Type 31 saw heavy action during the second Taiidan Civil war- in all factions save the Ashiin-Vaygr

I always thought the Taiidan had more of a relationship with the Russians

Strikecraft and Corvetts had a tendency to look like the Soviet MI-24 Hind-D and Frigates had the very Functional yet small Profiles much like Russian Navy ships of the current day

Chinese like to call their weapons "type xxx".
You think taiidans are like chinese?

I wanted them to be different.

Since it seems everyone and their brothers use "Class XXX" when designating spaceships.

Ok, IMHO, vaygr represent chinese, but taiidani russians (USSR). And as russians want to be in the europe state list, they also copy european culture.
And the same about ship names.
But yes, me&my friend are considering moving old taii fleet to HW2 and we see that a lot of their warships are not in clear classes - like scout which is not usual scout, but light interceptor etc.

Look, I agree with you on your whole Taiidan-Russian thing, in your article about them you've got a few really good points.
But please don't compare Vaygr to Chinese.

Well firstly because they're my all time favorite race and I really don't like that... But let's keep that aside and use just pure reasoning:
-There exists a notion that Vaygr have something to do with Nordic nations. That Vaygr is anagram for Viking in Russian and so on.
-But even if not, let's just look at the background. The fact that they're under one leader is not a natural thing for Vaygr, that's just a result of the latest events when Makaan found the third core. Until then they were a separate raiding nomadic groups, not a single superpower.
-So if you want to find a real life analogy, then they're by far more similar to Mongolians united by Genghis Khan. That's actually a spot on analogy, I just surprised even myself. The Chinese thing is just a pure nonsence and I don't think you can back it up with any solid fact.

Homeworld has a lot of layers. We know that the taiidani represent both ancient Iran and modern Soviets. The same with vaygr. Besides, Norway is quite far on the west from the original HW serie historical roots: subequatorial region from mediterrian sea to the India.
Or you like to associate them more with nazi?
Also, there's strong relations to the Israeli-Islamic relationships.

P.S.: There's also was Wei kingdom in China history.

Amazing, especially the angle you chose. But I sure as hell would -not- fly that low.
