FleetsPhot by Norsehound FleetsPhot by Norsehound
This was the OTHER game idea that came to fruition, and I presented it alongside Myopia.

Fleets is...well... the rules need revisiting, but the components, as you can see, are mostly complete.

All I can say about fleets' gameplay is that it was inspired by the likes of "Napoleon's Triumph" and the battles in Legends of the Galactic Heroes.

No, not posting any rules and stuff because I might want to publish this game.

I know you didn't post any rules or anything, but I kind of like that. Just looking at this picture makes me start thinking of all kinds of ways the parts I'm seeing could be used to make a game. I like art that makes me think.

Just the components alone? Interesting.

I can't tell if you'd be enthused or disappointed to see an actual game of fleets in progress....

I'm sure we'd all jump on that! i think your packaging and design looks excellent. Not sure what the little tabs w/ dots are about, but they look awesome.

The tokens with the dots are the playing counters for the game.

Fleets isn't a board game in the traditional sense, more like a tabletop with counters pretending to be a full miniatures game.

Ah, I didn't see this before. In your journal I asked for an idea on how it works, i withdraw the inquiry :).

I forgot I had anything of Fleets in my gallery until someone just commented on it.

I still intend on getting an entry on boardgamegeek when I have enough substance for it. Like pictures of the current revision or a game in progress or something.

Red, Blue, and White comprise the starter set for Fleets and would be bundled together with yet another wrapper. Black, Orange, and Purple is the expansion pack.

I've heard when developing games its a good idea to keep an expansion pack in mind when creating them. Not only do I have the prototypes for the four player expansion, but in my head I have an expansion for a campaign system. With it's own box, of course.

This certainly looks really cool. If I had more money and I saw this in a store I think I might buy it simply based on the packaging.

A mock game in progress can be seen here:

When I've done some more developing (or at least have better pictures), I'll make an entry on boardgamegeek for it.

Haven't touched it in nearly a year...

I might have incentive to re-visit it when I (hopefully) go to Dundracon in Feburary.

the design is really nice. also, i like space combat games (which i infer from that it reminds me of homeworld, and the CR and DD designations), would buy that if it plays nice and fluid. :-)

The first three and second three are packaged with a wrap-around label also, the idea being that the three modules make up the "starter" and "expansion" sets, probably shrink-wrapped too if they actually went on sale.
