Kharak-System by Norsehound Kharak-System by Norsehound
I've long wanted to revise this, ever since I was reminded about Haarsuk. And I've had cause to return to the Homeworld universe recently.

Fanart, for Blackbird. It's good to see Homeworld is in the right hands, to make the right sequel.

Tefeari is to thank for the Kharak projection, as before.

Edit: By the way in case anyone's wondering why the planet images are distorted? All those images were photographed from Kharak. I decided to use them over artists' renditions as a stylistic touch.

Honestly I think Blackbird / Gearbox should just hire you. Basically created so much fanon that most generally accept (notably the map).

Working there would be a dream come true for me, I think I even said as much to Rob when I met him at GDC '13. I think the reason I haven't been hired is because I'm not a canadian citizen (one of their recent artist hires lives up there). I guess it's harder for Americans to work in Canada than the other way around?

I wish I could be local to them but I'm not moving anywhere unless I'm sure I have a job lined up.

Try asking them if you can work with them.

Nice to see you making your return to Homeworld FanArt, and you did an excellent job on that map as always.

Hi Norsehound,
You probably noticed the recent KRNT's game map work with Harrsuk. I was hoping your map system to be HW canon, so HWR mod team would make a MP map pack, not only Harrsuk map.

Your map systems really deserve a kind of hommage in a form of MP map pack mod, IMO (provided you allow it, of course). Recently I commented with Über if SB would have a snow terrain like Enceladus moon, but he said "nope, just desert". A snowy desert map with dark sky woud have been awesome! Maybe you can create a prolific story for one of these moons on the map.

Great achievement. Again.

Sadly I honestly don't think the Kushan people really put footholds in the rest of the system. Once Kharak was discovered destroyed that was it, no need to travel to the other planetary bodies.

I like to think that had Kharak not been destroyed and the mothership taken off, Kharak would have cannibalized the scaffold for other uses in the space program and tried to colonize the rest of the Kharak system until the mothership's return.

First of all, if you're familiar with the interactive planetarium "Space Engine", there's a mod that makes this very system- in addition to some other locations from the Homeworld universe- visitable locations.

Secondly, my feelings on Shipbreakers are a bit mixed. Yes, it's great to see the IP in the right hands, and I'm looking forward to a new Homeworld game, but to be perfectly honest I was looking forward to Hardware; seemed to have its own distinct setting and Iunno if it'd be the same in the form of a Homeworld prequel.

I was looking forward to Hardware too honestly. I wish we could have had both.

This is some great work, I'm not very familiar with the Homeworld series, could never get into the game, too much of a learning curve. But this is great work, love the detail that has gone into this. :D
