Well, I have a good idea for a melee HUD display. It uses a triangle to display the weapon's swing. The triangle is made of red bars, and when the enemy enters the melee weapon's range the point of impact will turn green on the triangle, there will be a bar extending from the triangle to the target marking distance. The triangle bends and shifts to designate the weapon's swing.

You can also use a similar system for ranged weapon targeting just without the triangle. It can even display a cone for less accurate weaponry. I like the idea of a highly computerized targeting system that uses visual ques to help make aiming easier.
