When the Pride was the mainstay cruiser of the United Leauge of Planets fleet, the Overlord was the Battleship. Though both ships are considered vintage by today's standards, the Overlord is more reflective of current USN naval designs and represents a transistion from past shipbuilding aesthetics to newer, functional design. Even so, compared to today's lineup, she is outdated by her contemporaries in the USN navy. Only a handful exist, mostly in reserve, although Fleet 87 is said to operate four of these ships as squadron leaders for ambush operations.
Also like the Pride, the Antarians found themselves with a number of these ships when considering the restructuring of thier fleet. Rather than make drastic modifications to simply add drone capacity (like the Pride), the Overlord-C has most of it's cargo spaces removed to create the massive hanger area in the forward hull. Other improvements include removal and replacement of outdated systems, a complete engine overhaul, and the heavy mass driver turrets were switched out with plasma launchers- as the cavities left from those massive projectile cannons could easily accomodate standard capital plasma weapon.
In her hayday the Overlord Battleship was a formitable ship- carrying significant anti-capital weaponry backed up by a surrounding screen of Ion arrays. As missiles and other guided weapons were not as practical during the Overlord's launching, some say the ackerson anti-ship torpedoes were more of an afterthought than a reliable weapons system. Still, though it is outdated by many other cruisers, the Overlord is still a potent foe- especially in it's modern -C configuration.
Nice work, and you may wish to know, the word is spelt League (believe me it is a common spelling mistake). I look forward to seeing more of your work.
I really like these ships~
