Somtaaw Multi-Gun corvetteby ~Norsehound

When Somtaaw's demands for an anti-fighter strike craft were raised, the alternative to the missile corvette was obviously a Somtaaw version of the multi-gun corvette.

However, the formula for the superconducting polymers was classified as a 'military secret' by Taiidan legislature, and by now Somtaaw was expecting Naabal to block any efforts of Somtaaw's from acquiring them. Attempts to create the superconducting polymers on their own met with no success, and the Bentusi could not provide them with a satisfactory analog.

The solution lay in one of the new corvette's design requirements: heavier projected damage over the Taiidan design. It took the suggestion of an intern ont he design team for Somtaaw's group to break from the mindset of emulating the Taiidan design and come up with a 'reverse solution'. Instead of smaller high-speed guns, the final design had larger rapid-fire guns which fired the same ammunition but at a higher rate. No longer burdened with the need for high-speed turrets, Somtaaw went forward to produce their own Multi-Gun corvette.

The similarity to the Taiidan "Kudaark" assault frigate is uncanny, and perhaps not all that circumstantial. It's given the design a host of nicknames along those lines. "Jr. Kudaark" seems to be popular among the Taiidan military when classifying the unusual Somtaaw designs.
