Usagi Lunar Frame by Norsehound Usagi Lunar Frame by Norsehound
Commission Artwork for :iconalexthegreater:

:icondonotuseplz::iconmyartplz:

He was impressed with the OU series that he wanted a robot of his own. Took a while, but here it is, with three different armament configurations.

From L to R,
LF-2X: Lunar Frame Experimental (The prototype)
UGI-2'P': Pirate Lunar Frame (like the P7 model Axel, used by insurgents).
UGI-2M: Military-use version (Task Force Damocles colors).

Alex tells me the design was created by bored engineers on the moon who watched too much Anime. The parts are crafted out of processed lunar rock by a 3D printing machine. With fuel assistance they can reach orbit, but unassisted they can leap pretty high. Most fighting done with the Usagi is hand-to-hand though.

You sir are an uber designer! Never thought about rabbit mecha. Great concept!

The whole idea started with the OU-8, but you can thank the client for the specifics. I just gave form to the idea :)

Nice nice. It's a great looking mecha design. It has a nice balance to it. Reminds me of some of Masamunesan's early Appleseed designs. I think they would fit into the Appleseed universe.

Any new projects on the horizon?

What are your favorite animals or insects that influence your mecha designs?

Heh, you really should ask Alexanderthegreater all these questions, since it was on his commission.

Yeah, I specificity asked him to take one of his other designs and make it more mainstream.

Apparently we hit the sweet spot and got something that's exotic and accessible at the same time.

It doesn't help that the base color layer (to use when masking out the color) was pink...

If Alex commissions me to do so I could do a few more outrageous schemes with this. Though technically I could pull some OU-8 schemes out too...

Pink? Really?

Too bad the watcher's can't see the Love and Justice Special :p

If only I had enough disposable income to hire you full time.

That makes two of us...

Though with all the grunt work done, if you wanted to commission me to do a series of schemes using the already established lineart that could be possible.

Actually it might be nice to commission full size unit insignias. How expensive would that be?

I guess it depends on how ornate you want to get. For something as minimal and one-color as like the LUNAR logo I could do 30-40$ per. Negotiable as always.

That's a reasonable price but I'd want a ton. I have ideas for unit patches for space fighter squadrons all based on baseball metaphors.

I was going to request they be changed into cylinders like the Military version's Underslung missile (they both have the same kind of warhead, an Orion Drive Nuclear pulse charge) but decided carrot Panzerfausts would be better.

The Lunarians can actually manufacture them for almost free. They mine the Regolith (lunar soil) for He3 (fusion fuel) to ship back to earth, but He3 is only a small portion of the Regolith, the rest being oxygen silicon, and a ton of other random metals.

The oxygen is used to fuel the life support system and for rocket fuel, but the metals just pile up The UN puts lunar metals under a high tarrif to prevent the earth's economy from being destabilized by a sudden influx of cheap metal, so they just stockpile it. Suposedly it's for "Strategic use" if the UN wants to manufacture a bunch of starships quickly, but most of the time it just sits there in giant warehouses.

This combined with 3d printing technology, the lunarians can make pretty much anything they could possibly need for free. The only cost of making a Usagi is the time it takes to borrow a 3d printer and punch one out.

3D Printer. I love this idea. ^.^ I bet it's something that Kuun-Lan had in Homeworld Cataclysm (on bottom of the ship, below the Hangar Bay, where ships were assembled outside - by the way, it's the only game in series that featured this way of building!)
