Warhammer Redux by Norsehound Warhammer Redux by Norsehound
To mix things up, instead of the 3/4 plan view I normally do for machines, how about some portrayals of action while showing off the new design?

Although it seems the owners of Battletech got the OK to use the images for the "Unseen" (Ripped-off designs from various anime), I wanted to try redesigning the Unseen as I would have liked them.

So... the WHM-6R Warhammer. Done with the thinking that this would be a BW illustration for a Technical manual.

You did a really nice job on the physics and weight of the Warhammer. Really like your smooth concept design on this.

I never did understand why they kept the giant flashlight yet never had stats for it, just some silly rule that mentioned the mech by name. Of course the anime-editions had plenty of oddities I guess. The curved look here is pretty interesting though.

The spotlight takes up no weight, no crits (I think) and just negates the dusk/nighttime penalties on the board.

I learned recently that all of the Battledroids/1rst Edition Battletech mechs basically had the stats made to conform to the pirated artwork. That's how some of the designs ended up being so whacked out (and why the Warhammer has so many auxiliary guns).

Correct, in the tech readout the spotlight has no weight, critical slots, in fact I'm pretty sure it's not even mentioned in the entire book. It really would have been easy to alter the designs slightly but there was no QA between the artists and the guys writing the rules and stats. Which is why a Locust can torso twist to face you and punch you with both arms. I just sort of wish they had rules and artwork meant to work together...and maybe easier to demo rules.
