Description

Had kind of a downer monday, so I drew another Axel to feel better before resuming commissions and job apps

The Kikxs is the mainstay air-attack Axel for the UEPC, used all over the globe. The unit is used for military airlifting, air attack, and air assault roles where an Axel presence is required over conventional helicopters and air attack units.

Originally the MM12 Mamadan, design started a short period after the KR-14's walkout but problems plagued the development process, specifically in flight weight and blade synchronization on an Axel's variable structure. Avi-Arms decided to scrap the Mamadan design and start again with the same basic layout, dropping the shoulder hard-points and moving the arms from the inner body to outer leg units to save on weight. This freed up the structure to accept a new rotor arrangement, allowing Avi-arms to solve the problem of rotor synchronization. After three years, the problem was solved with mechanical limiters activating when the unit was in flight: restricting leg limb movement when flight mode was engaged. Though not entirely a satisfactory solution, Avi-Arms allowed the unit to fly off the assembly line into UEPC service. The AON-993 Kikx had a final round of revisions to meet UEPC standards, resulting in the AON-993B Kikxs.

In spite of its limitations the Kikxs is a very successful air attack Axel. Pictured is the special machine gun designed for the unit to use, and it carries a spare clip on one of the equipment mounts on the thigh.
